Thailand Experience | Teach English In Thailand

                    Terms & Conditions

By submitting an online application form on our website you hereby agree to the terms and conditions detailed within this page.

                    1. Payment & Booking

1.1 Once your application has been provisionally accepted by Teach Abroad Thailand (TAT) you will be asked to pay a deposit fee, which is fully refundable only if we cannot provide you with your chosen course placement, if we decide not to accept you into the course or if your course is canceled for any reason.

1.2 If for any reason you decide to cancel your place on a course, or you are unable to travel to Thailand, after you have made your deposit or balance payment, TAT cannot provide any refunds as we will have already incurred costs in arranging your placement and we may have already refused other applicants. We will however hold your payment in reserve for up to 18 months if you need to cancel for any reason and join a course at a later date. You may also transfer your deposit to a friend/partner as long as they meet our enrollment criteria.

1.3 The deposit can be used as part payment for any course on any date, subject to the availability of places. Applications cannot be transferred or deferred within 30 days of the start of a course that the applicant has agreed to attend. The balance fees must be paid in full at least 4 weeks in advance of the course start date.

1.4 We have never canceled a course due to lack of numbers however, If for any reason a course has to be canceled for any reason we can offer you the following options.

                    a) A place on an alternative course date and/or location.
                    b) A full refund of your fees.

1.5 You are requested NOT to book flights or make any travel arrangements until you have received a written confirmation of your placement from the host school director or authorized staff. (You will receive this confirmation by email within 3 days of making your deposit payment)

1.6 TAT will not be held responsible for compensating or reimbursing any travel or accommodation costs, including flights and all other related, and non related expenses, under any circumstances whatsoever. TAT will not be held responsible for compensating or reimbursing any part of the program package if that item becomes unavailable, or is withdrawn without notice, under any circumstances whatsoever.

1.7 All students are subject to the disciplinary regulations of the training centre. The course director's decision is final. No refund will be issued to any student who is expelled from a TEFL course/program under any circumstances whatsoever.

1.8 Base rate is in GBP£ and we are not liable for any variation in exchange rates.

1.9 We may offer discounted rates & promotions, such as buddy discounts, at certain times of the year to boost our enrollments. This means there may be other students on your course who paid less than you. We cannot accept requests for reimbursements because you may have missed a promotion, or other student(s) paid less than you for the same package. No exceptions will be made under any circumstances.

                    2. Disclaimer

2.1 Your use of our service is at your own risk. Neither TAT, nor any of its subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, agents, representatives or licensees shall be liable to you or anyone else for any loss or injury or any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive or similar damages arising out of your access or use of, or your inability to access or use, the service and the sites and the information available on the service and the sites or arising out of any action taken in response to or as a result of any information available on the service and the sites. You hereby waive any and all claims against TAT, and its subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, agents, representatives and licensees arising out of your use of the service and the sites and the information available thereon.

2.2 We've tried to make the information on this web site as accurate as possible, but it is provided 'as is' and we accept no responsibility for any loss, injury or inconvenience sustained by anyone resulting from this information. You should verify critical information (like visas, health and safety, customs and transportation) with the relevant authorities before you travel.

2.3 All information on this website is subject to change without notice. Monthly earnings, rent, accommodation, living costs etc will depend on your host school, location, hours worked and economic conditions and other factors out with our control. You cannot hold us liable in any way for these changes.

2.4 Travel insurance is NOT included in the program fees. Most schools will however provide basic medical insurance cover once a teaching contract has commenced. You are responsible for arranging adequate insurance cover for the duration of your stay in Thailand.

                    3. Job Placements

3.1 Our approved TEFL certificates are accepted throughout the world by reputable organisations who employ English Language teachers. This means that you will most likely secure a teaching job before, or shortly after, you complete your TEFL course. We will introduce you to our Job Placement agents who will interview you for available positions all over Thailand.

3.2 Please remember that all job placements are subject to an interview by the prospective employer. Due to the high number of sub standard applications ESL employers now receive by email we strongly recommend that you call first to arrange a meeting, rather than applying by email, to be sure of securing an interview.

3.3 We do NOT include a job placement in our packages. To date, 93% of our course graduates who wanted to work, were able to find paid work in Thailand within 4 weeks of completing the TEFL course. Due to the many dynamics involved in the job recruitment and selection process we are unable to offer a refund of the deposit or course fees to any graduate who is unable to secure any teaching placement under any circumstances whatsoever.

3.4 We cannot assist in arranging job placements in Phuket, Koh Samui or any other islands due to the low number of paid teaching positions available and the islands popularity. Most teaching jobs in Thailand are to be found in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Surrathanni, Krabi and virtually all other provincial towns and cities in Thailand.

3.5 If we do arrange a job placement for you, (as part of our fast track program only) our decision is final and non negotiable. It is a condition of your acceptance on our program that you are flexible in your location. You will be subject to your employers agreement, terms & conditions. If you decline our offer, If your contract is terminated by your employer or if you decide to leave for any reason, we will not arrange another placement for you.

                    4. Non BA Degree Candidates

4.1 If you do not have a BA degree, you may still join our TEFL programs. Once you complete your TEFL course, we provide you with the contact details of the top teaching organisations in Thailand who we work with closely. 93% of our graduates, who wanted to find work, were successful in finding paid employment in Thailand.

                    5. Privacy Policy

5.1 We will never disclose your personal details to any third party other than the senior staff at your chosen TEFL training center. Every email you receive from us will have a secure opt out link at the bottom of each mail. Teach Abroad Thailand is a subsidiary of TEFL Limited registered company number: 1254562 at Two Exchange Square, 8 Connaught Place, Hong Kong and representative offices at: 4 Woodside Place, Glasgow, G3 7QF, UK.

5.2 Permission. By signing up for our information pack you agree to receive 1 x email per week from us. You may opt out at any time.

                    6. Acceptance of Terms and Grades

6.1 By submitting an online application for one of our TEFL programs, you hereby agree and accept these terms and conditions (1-9). If you do not wish to accept these terms, you should not apply. These terms are non negotiable.

6.2 Each graduate will be given a grade for their participation in the TEFL course. The grades are based on theory, grammar assignments, lesson planning, teaching practice performance, participation in group activities and also for attendance & timekeeping. The cumulative score will determine your final grade.

6.3 You must achieve an overall pass grade of at least 50%. Those who do not achieve this pass grade, will fail the course and will not be issued with a TEFL certificate. No refund or compensation will be provided in this case. Failed students may be given the opportunity to re-take the course, which is at the trainers discretion. Every effort is made to assist students to make sure you pass the course. Our current pass rate is 99%.

                    7. Complaints

7.1 Any complaints should be sent to us by email within 30 days and we will respond within 7 days by email. We aim for 100% customer satisfaction and you can be assured that your complaint will be dealt with swiftly by senior management.

7.2 We welcome customer feedback and constructive criticism. However, we will not allow misinformation, gossip, hearsay, lies or defamation about our organisation and/or staff to be posted online in any forum, blog, website or other media. We will commence full legal and/or criminal proceedings for defamation, libel & slander against any individual, group or company who undertakes such action.

                    8. Certification

8.1 Your TEFL certificate is internationally recognized and our accredited TEFL course meets the recommended certification criteria set out by the British Council.

8.2 Please note a small number of ESL employers run their own in-house TEFL course and may not accept any other TEFL certificate other than their own. Our advice is to simply look elsewhere.

8.3 We continue to receive reports of unscrupulous ESL employers and TEFL companies making false claims about our TEFL certification. In most cases this is an attempt to sell you an additional TEFL course for which they receive a commission or payback. Graduates are advised to stay clear of anyone who attempts to disparage our organization and report such action to us. We will commence full legal action against those responsible as we have done so successfully in the past.

                    9. Code of Conduct

Teach Abroad Thailand expects all TEFL students to abstain from destructive, distracting, or disrespectful behavior during their TEFL course. These terms outline the code of conduct we expect during your course. Failure to abide by this code will result in immediate failure and removal from your course:
                    • Teach Abroad Thailand has a zero tolerance policy for any use of intoxicants during courses or in possession of illegal substances. If you are under the influence or in possession of such substances, you will be removed from the course immediately.
                    • You are expected to abide by all the rules of the venue at which your Classroom TEFL Course is held.
                    • Treat your TEFL Course tutor, staff and the other students with courtesy and respect both in-class and outside classroom hours.
                    • You are expected to abide by all the rules of the hotel/resort and treat the staff with courtesy and respect and you must maintain reasonable cleanliness of your room at all times.

No refund will be given to any student who breaks this code of conduct, or does not abide by these terms 1-8, under any circumstances whatsoever. The manager's decision is final.
